Hi, I'm Joanne Morcom and I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, near The Rocky Mountains, the rolling prairie and the rugged badlands. I'm a social worker and I also write haiku and related forms, as well as flash fiction. My work has appeared in print and online publications like Asahi Haikuist Network, Cenotaph Pocket Editions, Eleventh Transmission, The Electronic Poetry Network, Flashshot, Full Moon, Frogpond, Gusts, The Haiku Anthology, The Haiku Hundred, The Haiku Newsletter, Lair of the Mythos, Legacy, Mindprints, raw nervz haiku, Ribbons, Scifaikuest, Simply Haiku, Suite 101.com, Tanka Splendor, Tidepool, tinywords, Weird Tales and Woodnotes. I'm a member of Haiku Canada, The Writers Guild of Alberta and The Magpie Haiku Poets, who published A Piece of Egg Shell: An Anthology of Haiku and Related Work in 2004. In 2005, my publishing company, Capricorn Press, printed 25 of my flash fiction stories in a chapbook titled Double Whammy: 55 Word Stories. In November 2006, Sam's Dot Publishing in Cedar Rapids, Iowa published my scifaiku chapbook, A Nameless Place. In 2007, pooka press of Vancouver B.C. published my poetry postcards and a photobooth broadside. In addition, I lead workshops about haiku and related poetry.
